Water & Sewer Hearings Next Week

by UNHP

The NYC Water Board is considering a 5.6% rate increase proposal to take effect on July 1, 2013.

Those interested can comment either in person (call 718-595-3591 to reserve a spot) at the hearings listed below or by mail or email by writing to Diane Easporro, staff at the Water Board, 59-17 Junction Boulevard, 8th Floor, Flushing, NY 11373 or (deasparro@dep.nyc.gov).

While substantially less than the increases of recent years, the proposed 5.6% is still going to make it even harder to provide good maintenance of affordable housing.  Take a few minutes to share your thoughts with the Water Board either in person or in writing; while you’re at it, take a few minutes to share your thoughts with your city representatives as well.  It’s important for the City to hear from people concerned about affordable housing.  At meetings this year, Board and staff were talking about affordability as an issue and it’s important for them to realize that 5.6% is still a large increase.
