UNHP honors Joe Muriana for our 40th Anniversary! A Bronxite for the past 50 years, Fordham University administrator, adjunct professor, community organizer, executive director and UNHP Board President, Joe has shared his skills, goodwill, and passion for the Bronx, its people, its educational institutions, housing and businesses through his many years of dedicated service.

Forty years is an accomplishment for any community organization and one that University Neighborhood Housing Program (UNHP) does not take lightly. Check out the UNHP timeline with pictures and highlights of our history and accomplishments.

Thanks to roughly $500,000 of funding secured by UNHP through the NYS Weatherization Assistance Program, Edison Arms, a senior-citizen affordable housing development in Bedford Park will undergo a series of energy-saving renovations.

The NWBCCC Reinvestment Project and UNHP are featured in this essay by Gregory Jost, a former UNHP staff member, and valued colleague. The essay was originally published by Urban Ominibus and developed out of Greg's research for a book on redlining in the Bronx. It demonstrates how data was an important organizing tool in the early days of the Community Reinvestment Act and remains important today as displacement and speculation threaten the Bronx and other low-income neighborhoods in NYC.

UNHP is still buzzed from our Reclaiming Our Community Thru Affordable Housing, Art and Services Day on June 19th. The trifecta of events included a luncheon and information session for building operators, a ceremonial ribbon cutting at the mural created by The Royal KingBee and a well-attended Community Resource Fair.

On June 28, 2018, UNHP hosted a well-attended forum on the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) as it moves towards modernization, 40+ years after it was first legislated.

UNHP is sharing the northwest Bronx views of neighborhood residents, community leaders, Bronx community development professionals and UNHP board members.

On Wednesday, November 30th, UNHP organized a Tenant Housing Fair providing information and assistance with eviction prevention, legal services, rental subsidies and other services to help Bronxites remain in their apartments, understand their rights and available resources.

On Friday, October 30th 2015, UNHP Executive Director Jim Buckley, along with Council Member Ritchie Torres, Fernando Carlo, & Joyce Davis, was honored at the Northwest Bronx Community & Clergy Coalition's "Forty y Fuerte" 40th Anniversary Gala held at Fordham University's McGinley Center Ballroom.
