Tax Volunteer Blogs About Experience with UNHP
Jerica, a former accountant, is a VITA-trained volunteer tax preparer at UNHP. She is enrolled in Fordham University’s Graduate Program for International Political Economy and Development (IPED) Program, and recently wrote about her experience volunteering with us on her blog:
“The people I have met have been so grateful and shared such a personal part of their life with me. I have learned more about the history and transformation of my neighborhood than I ever could have learned from a book or Wikipedia article. I have been able to prepare some of the tax returns in Spanish which has been an incredible learning opportunity for me and has definitely contributed to an expanded vocabulary base. And it’s given me a chance to spend some quality time with my classmates who are also volunteering with the program.”
