Thank you to our 2019 Bronx Beer Hall Supporters, Sponsors & Guests!

by UNHP

A big thank you to our generous sponsors, raffle donors, and attendees for making our 2019 Fundraiser at the Bronx Beer Hall a success! Attended by over 190 guests, we are grateful to be able to celebrate our work to create and preserve affordable housing and bring resources to our Bronx community with friends, partners, contractors, volunteers, supporters, and Northwest Bronx Resource Center program users. The Bronx was highlighted in the food and drink with local craft beers, a fabulous pizza selection from Arthur Avenue’s Zagat-rated Zero Otto Nove and handmade gelato from La Marketta.

Thanks to our many sponsors and individual donors, UNHP was able to raise more than $65,000 to support our work in the coming year, including our efforts to identify and address distressed multifamily buildings, share research around emerging issues in the Bronx and offer a wide variety of affordable housing and financial services to community residents. Sponsors were acknowledged on our custom pint glasses created by The Bronx Design Group, on our website and are listed at the end of this post. The glass was extra special this year as it paid homage to local street artist, The Royal KingBee – scroll down to see the colorful honeycomb mural that was the basis for the glass design.

The raffles were popular again this year – thanks to UNHP raffle sellers and John Garcia, UNHP Board member, FBCS Executive Director, and raffle emcee extraordinaire! The wingspan for $20 was our top seller and special thanks to our raffle prize donors and our raffle sellers. An original painting by The Royal KingBee, 4 Bronx Zoo all-Inclusive day passes, Fromthebronx.com unique merchandise from the best NYC Boro, Monroe College swag, NY Red Bulls tickets to a home game, Bronx River Alliance Bronx River Paddle Trip, NY Giants Saquon Barkley Poster, Bronx Beer Hall Goodie Bag and Yankee tickets for 9/17 donated by friends of UNHP rounded off our selection of prizes.

A Big Thank You to our 2019 Bronx Beer Hall Sponsors!

Raffle Donors

One of the highlights of the evening was a shout out to Catherine AKA Cathy Clarke who has been with UNHP for 25 years! Cathy expressed her gratitude for the acknowledgment saying ” It has been the privilege of my life to be able to be even a small part of the great people-power comeback story that is the history of the Bronx. If you’re going to do community development work – you might as well stick around to see the results!” Cathy, a Brooklyn native, graduated as an urban study major from Fordham University and went to work for the Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition for eleven years before joining UNHP. Cathy, pictured center, with community entrepreneur, Katiuska Morel, received flowers, a plaque and a specially designed Cathy glass to mark her silver anniversary with UNHP.

The artist and the mural that inspired this year’s glass!

Noted street artist, The Royal KingBee was engaged by UNHP to create a mural on a prominent wall of one of our affordable housing buildings on West Tremont Avenue. UNHP hosted an “unveiling” of the mural at a Community Resource Fair held in the University/ Morris Heights neighborhood where the building is located. The beautiful colorful honeycomb pattern was used on UNHP’s sponsorship glasses as well as the limited edition Cathy glass. Thanks again Bronx Design and KingBee for your artistic efforts!

Final thanks to our many community partners, friends, donors and corporate sponsors who attended the event. It was an evening to celebrate, catch up with one another and energize for the year ahead. UNHP thanks you for your support and involvement in our work towards our mission. Special thanks to Paul and the bar crew and wait staff from The Bronx Beer Hall. There are more photos from the event on UNHP’s FacebookInstagramTumblr and Twitter. Connect with us on social media!

Thank You from UNHP Board and Staff!
