Student Mom Earns Three Credits

​Nicole earns $15,000 as a part-time evening receptionist, goes to school during the day and takes care of her energetic 3 year old son.  Nicole is going for her Masters at Mercy College and hopes one day to work in human resources. A few years ago she went to a paid preparer and was initially charged $80 for service, but the preparer took another $320 in fees out of her return when it came in. Nicole heard about UNHP Free Tax Prep through 311.gov  and qualified for a number of credits including Lifetime Education Credit, Child Care Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit. Nicole will use her $8,000 refund to supplement her income over the summer when her hours are reduced.
